If your laptop screen will not change brightness please try this first.

1. Go into "Control Panel" and then "Power Options".

2. Click the "Change plan settings" link next to which ever plan you are currently using and then click "Change advance power settings".

3. In this new window click "Display" to open up the listings under it.

4. Now locate and click each of the following..."Display brightness", "Dimmed display brightness" and"Enable adaptive brightness".

5. Change each of these to the settings you wish, then click the "Apply" button and finally the "OK" button.

If that does not work then try this.

Search for Device Manager in the desktop search on your Windows 10 PC and open the application. Look for the Display Adapters in the list. Click on it to expand and right click on the relevant drivers. Select the Update Driver Software from the menu. From the How do you want to search for driver dialogue box, select Browse my computer for driver software and then select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. From the Show compatible hardware option, choose Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and click on Next. After the install reboot the system and test if it works.
